Babak Sankani

Senior Associate Lawyer


Babak Sankani is a Senior Associate Lawyer at Achkar Law whose practice spans employment law, human rights law, and civil litigation. He is drawn to the balance of advocacy and problem-solving, and works through complex workplace and legal issues to deliver practical, cost-effective, and tailored strategies that move clients toward their desired results.

Babak obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Ottawa, with a specialization in alternative dispute resolution, and during law school interned at a well-known business law firm and at an employment law firm in downtown Ottawa. Prior to law school, he completed his Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Philosophy.

His tribunal experience includes acting as counsel for the applicant in H.D. v. Kismutt Small Dog Rescue, 2023 HRTO 1762, where he successfully obtained damages and other remedies for breaches of the Ontario Human Rights Code in the provision of services.

Outside the office, Babak enjoys spending time with friends and loved ones, playing strategy games, trying out new cooking recipes, and keeping up with legal news.
