Alicia Ambrus

Associate | Employment & Human Rights Lawyer

Alicia Ambrus is an employment and human rights lawyer at Achkar Law, which advises and represents employers across Ontario and British Columbia. She helps employers with the issues that run through the employment relationship, from hiring and employment contracts and agreements to terminations, dismissals, and layoffs and the human rights questions that come with them. Alicia also represents employees, and she enjoys finding practical, creative solutions to workplace problems from either side.

Alicia was drawn to employment law by the complex questions that arise around hiring, termination, and human rights, and by the chance to solve them in practical ways.

She earned her LL.B. (JD Pathway) from the University of Leicester, after completing an Honours B.A. in Environmental Studies and Political Science at the University of Toronto, and was called to the Ontario Bar. During law school she volunteered with the Legal Advice Clinic, giving free guidance on employment, family, wills, and contract matters. Alicia began her career in professional regulation with two provincial regulatory authorities, then practiced at a boutique firm focused on estates litigation and family law before joining Achkar Law.

That mix of regulatory and litigation experience gives her a grounded sense of how workplace issues affect both businesses and the people who work for them.

Outside the office, Alicia enjoys yoga, Pilates, reading, and travelling.
