Matthew Blake

Matthew Blake is an Associate Lawyer at Achkar Law. He represents both workers and companies in employment, labour, and human rights law disputes. Prior to joining Achkar Law, Matthew articled at a large construction union, where he gained experience in grievance arbitration, Ontario Labour Relations Board disputes, and collective bargaining in a variety of sectors.

Matthew also worked at a United Nations agency which provides humanitarian assistance to millions of refugees.

Matthew obtained his Juris Doctor from Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, and a Bachelor of Arts with an Honours Specialization in Criminology and History from Western University in London, Ontario. During his time at Queen’s, he volunteered with Queen’s Legal Aid and Pro Bono Students Canada.

Matthew has a passion for backpacking and has visited over 35 countries. He recently spent 9 months in Medellin, Colombia learning Spanish. In his free time, Matthew loves exercising at the gym, eating spicy foods, and playing a good game of chess.
